Windsor Hills United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) meets on
Sunday evenings, during the school year. The youth share a meal
beginning at 6:00 p.m., which is prepared by youth parents (a schedule
is set at the beginning of the year), and the youth begin their meeting
at 6:30 and end at 8:00 p.m. They meet in Windsor Hall.
Our Middle and Senior High Sunday School classes are also an essential
part of their whole faith experience in the Church. The classes deal
with issues that they are faced with in their daily lives.
The youth range from 6th grade to 12th grade. The leaders are there to
help them with their faith and spiritual growth, what they mean to their
lives, also in helping them to realize these in both the Church and
Community.
Regular youth group meetings will start Sunday, September 9th at 6:00
p.m. for dinner and 6:30 for the meeting. We are asking for volunteers
to fix dinners for the youth, please contact Brenda Simpson 997-4737.
Youth Trip to Emerald Pointe Water Park
The date has been set for Emerald Pointe Water Park, so mark on your
calendars for Tuesday, July 20th. Parents and siblings are invited to
share this time with your youth and fellowship with other parents. A
parent must go for children under the age of 11 (rising 6th grader). We
will take the bus and vehicles if we have over 15 people.
The cost is $25. for the park ticket ($9. savings) and the cost of
dinner on the way home (those under 48” tall the cost is $17). You will
need to pack a lunch or you can buy something at the park. We will meet
and eat together at the picnic area. I need to know who is going by July
16th so I can order the tickets, the day after we our return form Lake
Junaluska. The $25.00 will be due by July 16th if paying by check
(payable to WHUMYF) and July 20th if paying
with cash.
WHUM Youth
Our “Hillbilly” graduation party was a wonderful success. All 5 of our
graduates joined us, as well as many folks from the congregation. The
parents put together beautiful tables of memorabilia about each teen and
Tracey Bennett compiled a slide show documenting each teen.
Thanks to all who participated. We have sent these young adults into the
world knowing they are loved by their church family. Congratulations to
our graduates.
High School Graduates are: Jason Powers, Christina Simpson, Martin
Veldsman, Thomas Porter, & Byron Long.
College Graduates are: Christina Gleixner and Michael Nelson.
With your help the WHUMY donated 1,192 pounds of food to Second
Harvest Food Bank. Thank you so much for filling your bags and helping
to stop hunger in our area.
November looks to be a very busy month for our youth.
