Courtyard Makeover Complete
Over the last two weeks
the church courtyard has seen quite a flurry of activity. A generous
gift from some special people among us, who wish to remain anonymous,
has made possible the replacement of the walkways. Care was taken to
retain the original layout but with a new flare. The colored, stamped
concrete looks great and should serve us for many years to come. This
project inspired the removal and replacement of old shrubs and plants in
the courtyard and soon the garden will receive a layer of fresh mulch.
A big “thank you” to Jim Crowgey for guiding the walk replacement
project from start to finish. Thanks to Keith Cosner and companion Naomi
for heading up the replanting of the garden. Many other hands were
involved in these two endeavors. Thanks to each of you!

PRAYER MINISTRY STILL
GROWING
A year ago, Windsor Hills UMC
officially began a structured ministry of prayer. This decision was
an outgrowth of the desire of a group of church members and the
support of Pastor Tom Lee.
Many in the congregation attended informal “Schools of Prayer” led
by Tom and members of the Core Team. The Core Team is a group of
eight people, who have made a commitment to pray for our church, its
ministry, and its members. The Core Team has prayed over 130
confidential prayer concerns. These prayer concerns are not shared
with the general congregation, but are brought before God daily.
Prayer requests that are to be shared, are communicated to all
prayer teams. The team decides how long to keep a name on their list
and each team decides on when and how often to meet. Some teams have
chosen to share the prayer concerns, and not hold meetings; others
meet on a schedule they have chosen. The prayer teams, and the
facilitators, are as follows:
• Prayers for the Sick and Troubled – Facilitators: Bill Powell
389-7078 and Rob Gilsdorf 774-5390.
• Prayers for Pastors, Staff, Church Leaders and their Families –
Facilitator: Dave Armstrong 989-0294.
• Prayers for Individuals and Families of the Church – Facilitators:
Carolyn Fisher 772-0984 and Connie Armstrong 989-0294.
• Prayers for Church Programs and Activities – Facilitator: Bob
Johnson 989-8445.
• Prayers for Evangelism Outreach – Facilitator: Keith Young
989-0066.
• Prayers for our Nation and the World – Facilitator: Jane Baldwin
772-1780.
If you are interested in participating in one of these praying
teams, please contact the facilitator of the team. If you would like
more information on the Prayer Ministry, you may contact Carolyn at

Wednesday, July 9 and continue each Wednesday through July 30. Come
hear Max Lucado deliver every message via audio CD and follow his
program as we go deeper into each lesson. Sessions start at 7:00
p.m. and will end before 8:30 p.m.

series! Materials will be provided. To sign up, contact Becky Ring
at 776-1667 or Connie Armstrong at 989-0294. See you there!
“Helping Hands”, will be offered by some of the men of WHUMC. These
men are “handy around the house”, but don’t claim to be
professionals. The service will provide minor repair services
around the homes of our church family members who are unable to do
those things for themselves. We will be able to hang pictures,
change light fixtures, install new locks, install shelving, and do
many other small tasks. The Homeowner will pay only for the
materials required - no labor costs. However, we will gladly accept
a donation to our "Helpint Hands Scholarship Fund"

some help, call Vince Clinevell at 774-5846

UPDATE ON CHURCH PARLOR RENOVATION
The Parlor Decorating Committee, a branch
of the Memorials Committee, had their initial walk-through. Ideas
were discussed concerning which furniture to keep and which
furniture to discard. Plans were also discussed for exactly how to
redecorate and furnish the parlor.
In addition to the committee members listed in the last newsletter,
we also have Dave Tanis (who headed the Parlor Committee from the
beginning), Barbara Diehl, and Shirley Dean who will be working with
us.
Thank you all! We ask that you continue to keep us in your
prayers as we begin our renovations.
A decorating committee has been formed and it includes Janice Young,
Becky Ring, Joan Wheeler, Harriett McClung, Fred Eaton, and Karen
Carper.
